A fine pair of 1960s table lamps by Hans Agne Jakobsson (for Markaryd, Sweden, model B44) made from turned and painted beech (original ivory paint) with brass “tray” bases. This pair in great order (few tiny paint marks) and both with original labels to the bases. These have been carefully cleaned, waxed (museum microcrystalline wax), and rewired with 2.5m fabric flex, patinated brass safety-switched lampholder and traditional phenolic plug. Pat tested. A good quality antique gilt brass / ormolu oil lamp base; the slim “bell” capital and tapered reeded column on paw footed tri-monopodae legs with puma/panther leopard (?) knees, adorned with acanthus, lambs tongue, anthemion and palmettes. English, 19th century. The castings are individually number stamped (the removeable palmettes each stamped with a different number). Slight lean (probably original – no sign of damage), otherwise excellent condition. Thoroughly cleaned, very light polish.
