STRAND SILVERED SHADES ES

A set of antique silvered / mirrored saucer or dished shades by STRAND ELECTRIC LONDON and labelled as such on each shade within red shield shaped labels. English approx. 1930-40s. The shades were silvered to the outside and then protected by paint and sometimes a layer of copper too. Up to 15 available, some with paint losses and the silver tarnished to a champagne / gold colour. Most retain the red labels. Wired with bronzed brass ES lampholders/cordgrips, bronzed brass galleries and 1.25m bergundy fabric flex. Different flex length / colour can be supplied. **These are wired with patinated brass ES lampholders to facilitate use of small crown silvered “golf ball” type of bulbs which are not available in a BC fitting. The smaller bulb keeps it more within the shade for better looks and reflection. Slightly dearer so if you don’t need a small crown silvered bulb or any other ES bulb specifically go for the BC lampholder option (separate advert). Dimensions in inches/cms; 8.5″/21.5cm diameter. 4.5″/11.5cm tall inc cordgrip. Weight is approx. 0.5kgeach. Priced individually. PLASTIC COOLICON SHADES

Rarely seen (only ones i have ever had) vintage plastic coolicon pendant shade lights. Only 5 of. Excellent condition. Mid century ish. White shades, grey snap in galleries. Plastic is not brittle or misshapen or discoloured. Marked to shades; BRITISH MADE 100W BS161 REGD. DES. PEND. COOLICON. Supplied wired with 1m fabric flex, patinated brass cordgrip /BC lampholder, patinated brass cordgrip / ceiling plate with earth and vintage slotted brass screws (see image). HOLOPHANE GLOBE LIGHTS

A set of four Holophane prismatic globe hanging lights. Approx 1940s. Great quality crisply cast glass satin etched to the inside. Good colour and quality aluminium gallery mounts. The original aluminium stems have been cut down and Wichard self locking stainless steel shackles fitted for hanging; in this case with wire to give a very sleek look. They can be hung this way or with chain. Rewired with 1.5m fabric flex. They retain their original GES porcelain lampholders and are supplied with ceramic adaptors for use with standard ES bulbs. The lit photos are mainly with a cooler (4200K) bulb but their is also an image with a regular/warmer (2700K) bulb. PAIR TURQUOISE HOLOPHANE PENDANT LIGHTS

A pair of Holophane prismatic glass shade lights with their original cast aluminium / spun steel galleries and hook. English approx 1930s. The glass and galleries marked Holophane. The turquoise prismatic glass is etched to the inside so has a matt finish and is very crisply moulded. I believe the idea of the colour was to help shift the colour of the outputted light more towards daylight. Photos show them lit with a traditional (2700k) warm bulb and a slightly cooler (4200k) bulb; both transmitting a cooler (more towards daylight) light than if through clear glass. The glass cleaned, galleries taken apart and rubbed up retaining the original paint and double waxed. Rewired with 1.5m fabric flex, original porcelain BC lampholders. Each supplied with 1meter black jack chain (galvanised if preferred), original hooked ceiling plate (including vintage slotted roundhead black japanned screws). Dimensions in inches/cms; 10.25″/26cm diameter. 11.75″/30cm tall inc. hook (shade only is 6″/15cm tall). 2.25kg each. Priced individually. An antique brass gimbal wall / table lamp in cast brass / copper. Possibly for a boat / ship. Lead weighted base. First half 20th century. Cleaned, rewired with 2.5m fabric flex,patinated safety-switched lampholder, 3amp traditional phenolic plug. New fabric base. Pat tested. Shade adjusts up and down using wingnut / joint. An antique deco desk / work / office / bedside lamp with brass flexi-stem , chrome plated brass shade and stepped angled cast iron base in original dark green “crinkle” paint. English 1930s. Fully dismantled, cleaned, waxed, rewired with new push switch, 2.5m (exposed) fabric flex, original BC lampholder and 3 amp phenolic plug. Pat tested. A set of 5 antique Holophane prismatic glass shades with original fittings. English c1940s. Very good quality crisply cast shades with matt etched interiors. The top of the shades have a smooth outer and prismatic / ribbed inner and the base of the shades vice versa. Shades are marked to the rims; “HOLOPHANE No2410R. MADE IN ENGLAND. They have cast aluminium cap/hook assemblies in original paint with original porcelain ES lampholders. HOLOPHANE ENDURA PENDANT LIGHTS

A set of four Holophane Endura prismatic glass shade pendant lights. English, approx. 1940s. The glass on each marked “HOLOPHANE ENDURA NO 6584” The metal work prevoisly refinished. I have dismanled, cleaned and waxed the metalwork, cleaned the glass and rewired with 1.5m fabric flex and new bronze patinated brass lampholders. The lampholders have been positioned so a modern medium sized bulb sits optimally within the shade. Shown with an opal glass globe bulb.
