PAIR TURQUOISE HOLOPHANE PENDANT LIGHTS

A pair of Holophane prismatic glass shade lights with their original cast aluminium / spun steel galleries and hook. English approx 1930s. The glass and galleries marked Holophane. The turquoise prismatic glass is etched to the inside so has a matt finish and is very crisply moulded. I believe the idea of the colour was to help shift the colour of the outputted light more towards daylight. Photos show them lit with a traditional (2700k) warm bulb and a slightly cooler (4200k) bulb; both transmitting a cooler (more towards daylight) light than if through clear glass. The glass cleaned, galleries taken apart and rubbed up retaining the original paint and double waxed. Rewired with 1.5m fabric flex, original porcelain BC lampholders. Each supplied with 1meter black jack chain (galvanised if preferred), original hooked ceiling plate (including vintage slotted roundhead black japanned screws). Dimensions in inches/cms; 10.25″/26cm diameter. 11.75″/30cm tall inc. hook (shade only is 6″/15cm tall). 2.25kg each. Priced individually. A set of 5 antique Holophane prismatic glass shades with original fittings. English c1940s. Very good quality crisply cast shades with matt etched interiors. The top of the shades have a smooth outer and prismatic / ribbed inner and the base of the shades vice versa. Shades are marked to the rims; “HOLOPHANE No2410R. MADE IN ENGLAND. They have cast aluminium cap/hook assemblies in original paint with original porcelain ES lampholders. HOLOPHANE ENDURA PENDANT LIGHTS

A set of four Holophane Endura prismatic glass shade pendant lights. English, approx. 1940s. The glass on each marked “HOLOPHANE ENDURA NO 6584” The metal work prevoisly refinished. I have dismanled, cleaned and waxed the metalwork, cleaned the glass and rewired with 1.5m fabric flex and new bronze patinated brass lampholders. The lampholders have been positioned so a modern medium sized bulb sits optimally within the shade. Shown with an opal glass globe bulb. A large antique mirrored pyramidal pendant (or surface) light with decorative pierced gallery. Taken apart, cleaned and fully rubbed up to a smooth finish (rust removed). Nice overall colour and finish. All metal parts waxed inside and out (mc museum wax). Rewired with new hooked BC lampholder, 1.5m fabric flex.Pat tested. Retains original “bulb splitter” providing optimal placement for two regular BC bulbs (see images). “THE WIGAN” DOUBLE SIDED BULKHEAD LIGHT

Exceptionally rare – “The Wigan” – (never seen another) antique double sided ceiling mounted cast iron bulkhead light with protruding moulded and prismatic glass shades suspended with a steel conduit stem and a ball and socket jointed ceiling plate. English, 2nd quarter 20th century. Each side reads THE WIGAN MADE IN ENGLAND, also stating patents in various countries. The light and ball and socket joint both in original dark green paint, the stem is galvanised. All thoroughly cleaned, rubbed up and several coats “museum” wax applied. In excellent condition. Rewired, includes bulbs. Dimensions in inches/cms; 33″/84cm drop. The lamp is 8.5″/22cm tall x 6.5″/17cm wide x 6.25″/16cm deep. 5.5kg. Also although this is the only double sided one i have several “regular” wall mounted single sided “The Wigan” bulkhead lamps awaiting resatoration.
