A pair of Holophane prismatic glass shade lights with their original cast aluminium / spun steel galleries and hook. English approx 1930s. The glass and galleries marked Holophane. The turquoise prismatic glass is etched to the inside so has a matt finish and is very crisply moulded. I believe the idea of the colour was to help shift the colour of the outputted light more towards daylight. Photos show them lit with a traditional (2700k) warm bulb and a slightly cooler (4200k) bulb; both transmitting a cooler (more towards daylight) light than if through clear glass. The glass cleaned, galleries taken apart and rubbed up retaining the original paint and double waxed. Rewired with 1.5m fabric flex, original porcelain BC lampholders. Each supplied with 1meter black jack chain (galvanised if preferred), original hooked ceiling plate (including vintage slotted roundhead black japanned screws). Dimensions in inches/cms; 10.25″/26cm diameter. 11.75″/30cm tall inc. hook (shade only is 6″/15cm tall). 2.25kg each. Priced individually. Please note i have some more similar Holophane light fittings including ones with “regular” shades. Click photos to enlarge…
