A good quality antique gilt brass / ormolu oil lamp base; the slim “bell” capital and tapered reeded column on paw footed tri-monopodae legs with puma/panther leopard (?) knees, adorned with acanthus, lambs tongue, anthemion and palmettes. English, 19th century. The castings are individually number stamped (the removeable palmettes each stamped with a different number). Slight lean (probably original – no sign of damage), otherwise excellent condition. Thoroughly cleaned, very light polish. Rewired with 3m fabric flex, new brass patinated BC lampholder and 3amp phenolic plug. Pat tested.
